The Andalusia Chamber of Commerce will host a charter bus trip to Montgomery, this Thurs., May 26, to sit in on sessions in both the House and the Senate.

Anyone who is interested in this educational and civic experience is invited to participate.

The cost is $30 for the bus, and the group will eat lunch at the RSA Grille. It is hoped that time will permit Rep. Mike Jones and Sen. Jimmy Holley to join them.

Participants will load the bus at 7:30 a.m. and return by 4 p.m.

To reserve a seat, call the chamber at 222-2030.

The Covington County Economic Development COmmission and South Alabama Regional Airport Authority will hold a groundbreaking expansion ceremony for Vector Aerospace at 11 a.m. on Wed., June 1.

Vector is located in the airport industrial park.

The expansion was announced last fall and is expected to increase employment at the local facility to 200.

Children ages 6-8 can enjoy a week filled with a variety of art activities this summer at the LBW Community College Child Development Center Art Camp, set for June 13-17.

“Each day we will celebrate the works of a famous artist and the children will create art projects to display at the Child Development Center and take home,” said Elizabeth Page, center director.

“In addition, campers will have the opportunity to exercise at Dream Park and the LBWCC nature trail, watch educational movies on the big screen, visit the Art Department on campus, and other developmentally appropriate activities.”

The art camp cost is $100 per child and is limited to 12 to ensure a quality program.

Registration must be completed in person by May 31 at the Child Development Center, located on the LBWCC Andalusia campus next to Dream Park. For more information, call (334) 881-2321.

• Today’s Three Notch Market Arts and Crafts Festival, planned for the grounds of historic Springdale, features a variety of vendors and musical entertainment.

The Andalusia Junior Woman’s Club sponsors the event, now in its second year.

Entertainment is planned throughout the day, and will culminate with a 6 p.m. performance of the Rochelle Harper Band co-sponsored by the City of Andalusia. Entertainment begins at 9:45 this morning.

• The Opp Downtown Redevelopment Authority’s yard sale starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and will end around noon.

• The annual Lew Childre Steel Guitar Show will begin at noon at the LBWCC-MacArthur Campus.

• The Andalusia High School Bulldog football team and the AHS Quarterback Club will team up for tips today beginning at 8 a.m. at each of the seven Gitty Up & Go locations in Andalusia. All donations will be used to support AHS Bulldog football.

• The Red Level 11 and 12-year-old softball team will wash cars from 8 a.m. until noon at Advanced Auto Parts in Andalusia. Proceeds will go to tornado relief.

• Christian artist Jason Crabb will hold a book signing at noon at the Andalusia Christian Book and Gift. He will also be in concert at the Covington Arena at 7 p.m.
